Dr. Achintya Singh

Dr. Achintya Singh  has secured Rank 4 in AIIMS PG July 2014 session which was held on 11th May and results were declared on 15th May 2014. He has done his MBBS from IGMC, Nagpur.

Interview

Q. In what year did you pass out your MBBS?

Ans. 2014.

Q. What ranks had you secured in any previous PG medical entrance exams you gave?

Ans. Rank 256 in AIPGMEE 2014 and Rank 40 in Maharashtra  PGM CET 2014.

Q. What is the secret of your success?

Ans. Ordinary brain with extraordinary perseverance.

Q. How was your internship?

Ans. It was heavy but slowly and steadily kept on going on.

Q.  When did you seriously start preparing for the entrance exam?

Ans. Final year, started with short subjects gave an edge over others.

Q. How many hours did you study each day?

Ans. Never calculated ..on my best days 6 to 8 hrs. During last months 8 to 11 hrs. Took breaks every week.

Q. Which books did you read for the theory part?

Ans. All standard text like Robbins , Harrison, Bailey.

Q. Which books did you read for MCQs revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?

Ans. AA for Pathology and subject wise, for PSM – Vivek Jain were most productive. Nothing like least but yes Daga for Maharashtra has lots of errors.

Q. Which subjects did you focus on?

Ans. PSM, 2nd year, 1st year…in that order.

Q. What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why?

Ans. 196. Well took  a couple of wild guesses. Stayed calm in AIIMS exams. Having a seat already took the pressure off.

Q. Did you join any classes or test series? Was it useful?

Ans. Bhatia foundation course. Was very useful and strongly recommended.

Q. Who or what influenced you to take up Medicine?

Ans. My parents.

Q. What is your advice to future aspirants?

Ans. Be precise and always revise. All the best.

Q. Indian PG entrances are highly competitive, so to crack them students end up in appearing for multiple PG exams with some of them having same exam with different slots and papers , please extend your views on this and their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances.

Ans. It’s good and gives you a chance to perform in all dimensions be it concepts or facts.
