Q. In what year did you pass out your MBBS (Completion of Internship)?
Ans. 2015
Q. What were your MBBS percentage marks (aggregate or final year)?
Ans. 66%
Q. What ranks had you secured in any previous PG medical entrance exams you gave?
Ans. All India rank 3038 in AIPGMEE 2015 and rank 220 in MH PGM CET 2015.
Q. Could you please tell us something about yourself?
Ans. I belong to a middle-class family. My family has been my greatest support system. I like singing and writing Hindi poems. I was Hindi editor of my college magazine GOSUMAG.
Q. What is the secret of your success?
Ans. Blessings of parents, constant encouragement from siblings and friends..a bit of luck and lots of hard work.
Q. How was your internship?
Ans. Internship in KEM is always heavy. Only those who manage their time very well can crack PG while doing the internship.
Q. When did you seriously start preparing for the entrance exam?
Ans. During my internship.
Q. How many hours did you study each day? How long do you think students need to prepare for cracking PG medical entrance exams?
Ans. 6 hrs almost every day. During revision, 8-10 hrs. 8 Months of Sincere studies is sufficient to cover the majority. Whole of syllabus almost never gets completed!!
Q. Which books did you read for the theory part?
Ans. I mostly read explanation and summary from MCQ books only. A few tables from Harrison, Robbins and Ganong I had gone through.
Q. Which books did you read for the MCQs? Which MCQ books were the most productive and which were least?
Ans. Arvind Arora for most subjects. Garg for Pharmacology, Sumer Sethi for Radiology, Sumit Seth for Forensic, Amit Ashish for Medicine and surgery, for ObGy just DAMS (Deepti Behl mam) Notes. Usually short subjects are most productive.
Q. Which subjects did you focus on?
Ans. Medicine Surgery, PSM and 2nd-year subjects.
Q. What were your study methods? How many revisions did you do for each subject? Did you make any changes in your study methods in your recent attempts?
Ans. I used to read very slow and try to get maximum in one read..as I was not good at revision.I revised majority of subjects at least once. But multiple revision is the best approach.Whatsapp discussion group helped me a lot.
Q. Did you do any special preparation for image-based questions?
Ans. I used to follow Dams exclusive club.
Q. What was your strategy for the exam day? How many questions did you attempt and why? How many do you think you got correct?
Ans. 8-10 hours of sound sleep the night before exam..reading the questions and options carefully. I attempted all 300 Questions in both Mh PGM CET & AIPGMEE. In MH I got 248 Correct.…all India I guess roughly 235-240.
Q. Do think there should be a different strategy for preparation of different entrance exams like AIIMS-PG or PGI?
Ans. Yea.…AIIMS requires crystal clear concepts from standard textbooks.PGI requires more exhaustive studies of a few select topics. At least, 3-5years paper should also be done for both.
Q. Did you join any classes or test series? Was it useful?
Ans. Last year dams tests & discussion. For this time, i had joined dams test series.Both were helpful. Dams CBT also gives a fair idea about your preparation.
Q. Who or what influenced you to take up Medicine?
Ans. I guess the humane touch attached with this field.…in no other profession you affect human lives the way you do in medicine.
Q. In which field do you want to specialize in? Why?
Ans. Medicine. I like the subject.
Q. What seat have you been allotted in counselling? Did you join?
Ans. Counselling has not started yet.
Q. What is your advice to future aspirants?
Ans. Self-belief, consistency and smart work will bring the success for sure.
Q. Indian PG entrances are highly competitive, so to crack them students end up in appearing for multiple PG exams with some of them having the same exam with different slots and papers, please extend your views on this and their pros and cons of appearing in multiple PG entrances.
Ans. Multiple pg entrances definitely increase your chances of getting your desired branch.…every exam requires slightly different approach and different people can perform better in different patterns as per their capabilities.…so i would say its always better to appear for multiple exams.
