Q. What is the secret of your success?

Ans. I feel 3 things are required to crack any exam: talent, hard work and smart work. Out of these, for AIPGMEE, hard work is most important and talent the least. I used to study in whatever short span of time I used to get in my internship and these collectively has helped me sail through.

Q. How was your internship?

Ans. Internship in my college is a little heavy. But at the same time, the registrar and the housemans are equally supportive if u want to study. That helped me a lot.

Q. When did you seriously start preparing for the entrance exam?

Ans. I was fortunate enough to be in a college where students are made aware of the pg entrance exam pattern right from the moment they step in the college. So, I used to study accordingly from the beginning. But it is very much possible for any student who study vigorously hard in the internship to get into top 100 all India.

Q. How many hours did you study each day? How long do you think students need to prepare for cracking PG medical entrance exams?

Ans. I never used to calculate the hours or the pages completed because that would have only made me more anxious..!!!

Approx. in the last 2-3 months I used to study 14-15 hrs each day.

Q. Which books did you read for the theory part?

Ans. Last anatomy, Guyton n Ganong, Satyanarayan n Harper, K D Tripathi n Katzung (general, ANS n CNS),robbins, Ananthnarayan, Reddy, Park, Dhingra, Khurana n Parson (neuro, retina, optics n squint), Harrison (mainly vol. 2), Bailey, Dutta (both Obgy), Ghai n Maheshwari.

Q. Which books did you read for MCQs revision? Which revision books were the most productive and which were least?

Ans. I read mainly all Arvind Arora guide books.

Most productive were: Arora (Pathology, Physiology, Microbiology, sarp, Ortho), Sumit Seth FMT, Sumer Sethi radio, Sakshi Arora gyn

Least productive: Arora (anatomy, paeds).

Q. What were your study methods? How many revisions did you do for each subject? Did you make any changes in your study methods in your recent attempts?

Ans. I always used to just read and understand the subject in my first reading n gradually changing over to focussing more on memorizing stuff in subsequent reading.

Q. Do think there should be a different strategy for preparation of different entrance exams like AIIMS-PG or PGI?

Ans. The main focus should be on 19 subject guide books with last few yr papers done from volumes for an individual exam.Overall the approach is more or less the same.

Q. Did you join any classes or test series? Was it useful?

Ans. Dams foundation and T&D.

Very helpful..!!!

Q. In which field do you want to specialize in? why?

Ans. DM hemato-oncology/oncology.

Q. What is your advice to future aspirants?

Ans. Be determined n never lose hope.Perseverance is the key…!!
